Keller Williams Gives Back to the Community

by Doug & Gwen Campbell at Sun Bay Associates

Keller Williams real estate agents in Palm Harbor volunteered their talents for a makeover of a home in Dunedin, FL.  The project was for a family that has adopted children and taken in dozens of foster children, many with handicaps.

This was a large community service project by these real estate agents and several other groups that provided donations of time and equipment to help us make this a success.  Working strictly on a volunteer basis, the agents, along with the appropriate licensed professional electricians, installed a new air conditioner, new windows, a new sliding glass door, a clothes dryer, and insulated the ceiling and walls of a very large, unfinished play room for the children.  The Keller Williams real estate agents then painted the inside of the newly redone playroom, painted the outside of the addition, repaired outdoor playsets, swings and basketball net, and the fence in the yard.

Another group of agents then procured lawn services to mow the grass, trim it and blow off the debris.  The agents then weeded the flower beds and placed over a dozen bags of mulch in the flower beds.  The memorial garden on the patio in the backyard was cleaned up and mulched.  When the project was over, the playroom had a new air conditioner, new carpet, fresh paint inside and out, repaired playground equipment and freshly landscaped flower beds.

The Palm Harbor Keller Williams real estate agents all contributed large chunks of time away from their businesses to give back in community service to the wonderful blended family of natural, adopted and foster children in Dunedin.  All were tired, and all felt good about giving back.  To learn more, visit the St. Pete Times link about the Keller Williams Red Day of community service.

Keller Williams Helping Foster Home in Dunedin

by Doug & Gwen Campbell at Sun Bay Associates

Be a Part of KW RED Day & Week

May 10th to 14th, 2010

As you know, it has been a tough couple of years in real estate and in business in general. As members of the real estate community in Palm Harbor, one thing our Keller Williams team can't forget is our commitment to the community we serve - and there is so much we can do to help.  In the spirit of community service, we want to invite you to participate with the Palm Harbor / Clearwater office in the second annual RED Day

RED (standing for Renew, Energize and Donate) Day is the vision of Keller Williams Realty to coordinate a day of service with all of our 690+ offices across the United States and Canada with more than 73,000 associates participating. We are all committing to spend the day giving back to our communities.  In fact, we've even taken the idea a step further and turned it in to RED WEEK here in Clearwater!  And we want you to be a part of it!

We need your help to perform an "Extreme Home Makeover" for a loving Dunedin Foster Family with 10 kids and, with your help, hopefully room for more soon.

We need materials, labor and monetary donations.  The project is being done in conjunction with Eckerd Youth Alternatives, the lead Foster placement and advocacy agency in Tampa Bay.

About the Foster Family:   For the past 26 years, Janice and her husband have adopted and taken in Foster kids - a LOT of kids - all with some degree of physical or mental disability. Many are now grown and married.  They love and welcome the kids that are least likely to get fostered or adopted.

Their dream was to build out a big indoor play area off the back of their home.  Janice's husband finally got it built but passed away last year before it was completed.  With your help, we're going to finish their dream.

We're insulating the walls and ceiling and installing air conditioning.  We'll be putting in new windows and doors.  We'll install new siding and trim inside and out.  We'll lay and sub-floor and install carpet.  Finally we'll paint - a lot of paint!  We are also sprucing up other rooms with paint and furnishings so Janice will have room to take in one or two more children.  Currently there are TEN (10!) kids in the home between the ages of 2 and 21.

Any time you get a chance to help a saint, go for it!

Anyone who can donate materials, time or money, or knows of someone that can, please read below about our specific needs.  By the way, contractors and handymen are really welcomed!

To make an easy online contribution - CLICK HERE TO DONATE NOW.   Just click the "online" donation tab and be sure to select KW RED Day Foster project in the drop-down list provided.  100% of  donation proceeds will be used solely for this project and are tax deductible (receipt provided).  Of course, feel free to contact the wonderful agent who sent you this e-mail with any additional questions!

We thank you.  And the kids will, too!
